A summer heatwave is finally here and Hastings College is showing its final Summer student exhibition at the current site before the scheduled move to the purpose built College in the Autumn of 2009. The opening on the 26th June featured all graduating Degree course students showing work in painting, graphics, Illustration, fashion, ceramics, 3D and many other disciplines.

The shows are on only until the 30th June open between 10 and 5pm.
The Weekend gallery is showing a very unusual exhibition titled ‘Chaos Theories’ demonstrating the skills of 3 diverse artists, Jeremy Townsend, Esther Appleyard and Alexis Rago all with a shared fascination for the minutae in the whole .

This exhibition finishes on the 28 June to be replaced by the excellent work of Charlotte Snook whose opening is on the 2 July.

A visit at the weekend to the stunning Independent Photographer’s Gallery (IPG) in Battle

where there is an excellent exhibition titled ‘Silver Footprint’ by Robin Bell and others celebrating 35 years of photographic printing for some of the world’s great photographers. The exhibition finishes on the 20 June. The IPG also co-ordinates the now well established Terry O’Neill Award with major judges, sponsors and prizes and the closing date is the 31 July.
A new SoCo exhibition has opened at the Conquest Hospital organised by Arts in Healthcare. Its shows more than 30 works with a range of prints, sculptures, paintings and drawings. The exhibition runs until 16 August.

New store Plenty on the St Leonards seafront specializes in local, eco, organic and fair-trade groceries, freshly baked bread and other household supplies in a large premise overlooking the Sea.

It hosted its first ‘networking evening’ inviting local businesses and others to share ideas and nibbles.
