Festival, Bonfires and Ben

Another festival month with the Hastings Week from the 10-19 October looming. This is another week packed with a programme of talks, tours, music, exhibitions, demonstrations, an Old Town street party on Thursday 16 and culminating on Saturday 18 in the hugely popular, spectacular, pyrotechnic Fireworks and Bonfire night organised by the Hastings Bonfire Society. The festival is to celebrate the 14 October (now Hastings Day ) the date in 1066 when King Harold lost the Battle of Hastings and William Duke of Normandy changed the face of England forever !

Over in Rother we have the 1066 Battle of Hastings on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 October 10am-4pm. A Battle re-anactment with over 200 soldiers.

A major exhibition of important, influential C20 British Artist Ben Nicholson also opens on 11 October at the De La Warr Pavilion. A must see.! More on this later..
