October: Ben, Jerwood, Azur
The exhibition of Ben Nicholson at the De La Warr Pavilion is well worth a visit!. Its possible to walk all the way along the beach from Hastings to Bexhill as we did at the weekend. This is a picturesque hour or so passing colourful beach huts, fishing boats and there is a cafe at Glynde Gap where you can stop off halfway.
The exhibition is on until January 4 with a small admission charge and an excellent, reasonably priced catalogue.
The weather has held out for the Hastings Week Festival. Grand Procession and gigantic bonfire and fireworks on October 18.
Last week a visit to the Jerwood Space in London. (They are intending to build a new Gallery on the Stade in Hastings Old Town. Consultations with HBC and other partners are ongoing ). The Jerwood are just 8 minutes walk from London Bridge Station and the building is a beautifully refurbished Victorian school with contemporary art gallery, performance space and glazed courtyard cafe. The Jerwood Drawing prize exhibition is currently on until November 26.
