AWG visited Rye and the opening of a retrospective exhibition of well known local painter, Bill Day – a superb display of his work at the Stormont Studio, Rye Art Gallery spanning several decades before his sad and untimely death in summer 2008.

As well as his rich  and very personal landscapes are some early portraits including a self portrait from the 1960’s This is a must see exhibition for anyone interested in painting !  It runs until the 21 June and the Stormont gallery is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and Sunday afternoons.

At the main Rye Art Gallery is a mixed show of prints by well know local artists also worth a visit. Rye Art Gallery is open every day except Tuesdays.

Major work is being done to form an extension and glass link between the Stormont and main Gallery and this should be complete by summer 2009.
